Am I really that much of a burden? Sure, my friends would have me believe that I have a "great personality" - yeah, right; had I any personality to speak of, then I would also have a social life akin to that enjoyed by just about everyone else I know (even the geekier people, not that we aren't all freaks anyway). As it happens, I don't. Virtually every time I check a friend's blog, it's all "yeah, I ate out today with *insert name* & *insert name*, we had a bloody fantastic time, chatting and hanging out and stuff... then I caught up with *insert name* at a rock concert, and barely had enough time left over to catch *insert name* on the flip side. Wow, another wonderful day in my wonderful life!". Yeah, well fucking good for you.
The last point at which I can remember having been invited out with any regularity transpired approximately ten months back; that's one hell of a long while for someone like me to go without having a social life. Wow... and there you were, pondering the reasons as to exactly why I appear so embittered and indignant all of the fucking time.
Oh, and if you were about to engage in one of those morale-boosting sessions whereby you post genuine, heartfelt comments stating how you "really enjoy my company", or how you "just never thought I'd be into that kind of thing"; don't. I'm not some fucking charity case fishing for false sympathies; I don't want your pity. I just happen to be fucking angry right now, and this is my outlet. And now, if you don't mind, I'm gonna make myself a cup of tea. Goodbye.

I'm so fed up with my life; every single day, the same tedious routine. Now that school is well and truly over, I don't know what I'm going to do to maintain a state of relative sanity throughout the next few months. This could be interesting. Then again, maybe not.
Ho-hum.

The crux of the issue is that I am obliged to endure a similar kind of discrimination as might someone who was of an obscure racial background, but because the very subject of racism is now such a universal taboo - and therefore treated with utmost seriousness by those in positions of authority - the majority of such people actually have comparitively little to worry about, aside from occasional, isolated incidents. My situation, however, isn't taken seriously. Certain people might feel inclined to argue that "it's only a problem if you make it a problem" - bollocks; other people make it a problem for me every single time I am subjected to verbal or physical abuse as a result of my hair colour. How can you possibly profess to understand? We weren't all born supermodels, you know. I don't appreciate your belittling my situation as if it were but a trivial matter, because you evidently have no fucking idea what it is like for someone like me; to go through my entire life being pre-judged and discriminated against by my peers - even, to an extent, within Pate's itself - because they are simply too bigoted and/or pig ignorant to bother acquainting themselves with the personality behind the face before acting upon the premature conclusions that they have drawn. It makes me fucking angry, I can tell you; especially since I would have thought that I could at least depend upon my close friends for moral support in this matter.
Anyway, rant over. I'm gonna go boil the kettle ;)

Woah - Zoe's latest blog post has promptly flouted the prior misconception that I am a lightweight in the alcohol stakes. She states that I actually drank at least as much as Will and Marshall (though not combined) whilst experiencing no adverse side-effects, whereas they were both bent double over numerous sinks for substantial periods of time, spewing their guts out in full, technicolour glory. Eurgh.
I think my quota was something along the lines of: 1 shot absinthe, 1 shot whiskey, 4 shots gin, 2 shots wodka, 2 pints Boddington's, 2 pints Budweiser, 1 glass Pimm's. That's like, thirteen units of alciehol. Eep. And yet I don't even have a hang-over... or feel the least bit tired, come to think of it. Chalk it down to my Dad's good constitution, not to mention indestructible whiskey-gut :P
Units are for accountants, is what I say!
Anyhow, in celebration of the acknowledgement of this fact, I thusly intend to drink myself into a veritable bastard of a coma. Yup, that's right: in addition to being a heavyweight, I am also a complete idiot. One devastating combo ^^

I am feeling: weary, bored, depressed, indignant and ever so slightly nauseous.
I have come to the conclusion that parties tend to have a negative impact on my self-esteem. The momentary, alcohol-induced high is, as always, desirable for the purpose of general catharsis and letting oneself go; however, subjectively speaking, they certainly don't seem to do me much good. Granted, I am one who enjoys being in the limelight; at the centre of everyone's attention. I do my best both to amuse and entertain, if only for the simple pleasure and gratification it brings - because when I think that I am making others happy, I can feel appreciated. But to what end? I invariably do my utmost to cheer people's spirits - to make them laugh - and yet, at the end of the day, I still feel lonely, depressed and resented by everyone; almost as if I am only present in a comedic capacity, for people's amusement, and not as a human being with human feelings and emotions. I don't know what it is that I do wrong, specifically; perhaps it is due to the fact that I am unable to merely sit around on my arse and look pretty, like Sheridan, or to exude laid-back, effortless cool, like Brendan. Maybe that is the crux of the issue, or maybe I am simply a delusional paranoid. Either way, I know that parties aren't good for me.... they really aren't. But that momentary high almost serves to make the pain worthwhile.
Oh, and just to set to record straight for those to whom this applies: it's not so much the general level of prejudice that I am complaining about; every human being has the innate tendency to pre-judge every other human being based upon such superficial aspects of one's person as physical appearance, hair colour and so forth, and it is therefore somewhat hypocritical of me to take the moral high ground insofar as these matters are concerned. However, I do feel that I am wholly justified in proclaiming my indignation pertaining to the levels of discrimination resultant thereof; discrimination against which I am obliged to take specific measures on a day-to-day basis, simply because the authorities refuse to recognise such passive hostility as being born of the exact same cradle as outright racism. I am discriminated against because of my hair colour in the same vein as an individual of foreign origin may be discriminated against due to their racial background; yet, unlike said individual, the law chooses not to afford me equal protection from these attacks. My being discriminated against for having ginger hair is not the same as someone being discriminated against for having chosen a particular fashion, religion or lifestyle category. This discrimination is not borne of a conscious decision on my part to go "against the grain", but of a hereditary and wholly superficial genetic characteristic over which I have no direct control. Although the discrimination of those who conform to particular fashion/lifestyle groups (e.g. "goth", "greebo" and so forth) is no more justified (and equally appalling) it does nevertheless originate from a conscious decision on the part of the victim, and thus may be ended at the victim's leisure by the making of a similarly conscious decision not to openly follow said fashion or lifestyle (though such repression of expression should not be at all necessary in the first place). Ergo, these people have a choice in the matter. I, however, do not. Fact: I was born into a minority group, and I suffer discrimination, so there. Just be glad that the vast majority of you aren't forced to deal with it in anything approaching the same capacity as I am.
Well, that's all I have to say for today. Tune in next week... umm... that is, if you, like, really want to :P

Okay, okay... so I am thus far able to catalogue a ten day lapse in my commitment to the art of verbose bloggery. So what? I mean, it's not as if... woah. Ten days?! Christ, I guess that does constitute a prodigious sojourn. However, this does not imply that I should be any the less capable of providing you, my humble voyeur, with a half-baked pastiche of an excuse. That's "pastiche", not "pasty". "Pastiche". Oh, fuck off and find a dictionary.
First off, feel free to refer any complaints you may have pertaining to my recent, and for the most part, unexplained absence to the Obliviated.net forums. "Grr" and "Yay!", in equal measure.
Second off, I can proclaim the last week or so to have been one of decidedly hectic (in)activity. One shall graciously decline from sedating you with the details, but suffice to say, I need no longer feel obliged to endure the turgid, and quite frankly, laudable charade of Mrs. Burns' "Maths lessons" ever again. Ever. Hurrah.
So, as I continue to sit here, marinating in my own bodily fluids and gorging myself upon the sublime delicacy that is Nestlé's Toffee Crisp (mum sold out, not me - I told her they were evil, but did she listen?), I look to the future with great expectations of what it may hold for me and my compatriates throughout Pate's Y11. That's right; good luck to you all, and remember: it's never as bad as you think it will be.
Oh, and Zoe: you should seriously consider compiling a book of short stories for children. I'd go out and buy them for little Scott Meredith, without hesitation ^^

However much I am loathed to bear the burden of bad news, I must regretfully inform you that today's bloggage will more than likely be tragically curtailed. Chalk it down to my mother's insistence that I disconnect from the 'net once in a while in order that she might engage in social contact with her "peers".
*cough*
Anyhow, just a minor update: prior to the publication of this very article, Lisa e-mailed me with a spankingly good idea that I shall refrain from publicising at present. Suffice to say, it probably doesn't concern you - for the time being, at least. Nevertheless, one would be wise to keep one's eyes peeled for future updates pertaining to aforementioned "idea"; one may be pleasantly surprised. In the meantime, one is more than welcome to gorge oneself on the prodigious morsel of succulent linkage which I have lovingly prepared for your delectation, page right. Just don't make a mess on the carpet.
And remember, people: watch this space ;)

I presently find my personal situation to be one of surfing upon the crest of a veritable tidal wave of positive karma. It is thus that one might well discern today's bloggage to be somewhat disjointed in nature, and as such, the author apologises well in advance for any personal injury incurred whilst navigating the murky and hitherto unchartered depths of my brain-pan. Thankyou.
It is my firm and wholehearted belief that any sane individual possessing of the capacity to sustain a notable degree of consciousness between the hours of eleven and twelve p.m. on Sunday evenings should make it their business to watch This Life as part of a truly enlightened existence. Not only does it feature witty repartée and poignient dialogue between a host of utterly believable characters, but it also boasts a gay Welshman whose characterisation is compelling in spite of - and not as a direct result of - his sexual preference. Go figure :P
Oh, and 24 is also the best thing since sliced bread... but then I would surmise that you are already aware of this fact, seeing as you have watched every single nail-biting instalment with near-religious devotion during and throughout the past five months. Haven't you? Hmm?
Anyhow, it would seem that Human Chorionic Gonadatrophin is secreted by the embryo as a means by which to maintain the corpus luteum for sustained production of the hormone progesterone. And I have a GCSE biology examination in three hours. Peace out, and god bless :P
N.B. Patrik: I believe that you misconstrue, my sexually deviant chum. My application of the term "insightful" in reference to your weblog was by no means complimentary! Nay, if anything, quite the opposite; one was merely expressing the undeniable fact that, by way of certain snippets of information vouchsafed therein, one is permitted to gain unique and unparalleled insight into hitherto only hinted-at aspects of your persona. Perhaps the proverbial wool has indeed been pulled over my eyes; perhaps this unnecessary diatribe serves only as a means of perpetuating a groundless folk myth. Oh well - perhaps you might feel disposed towards remedying these apparent misgivings once you have untied me and unpacked me from the boot of your parents' car, you sick bastard :P
